Native American Yupik Woven Basket - Hand Woven Basket

This is a wonderful vintage Hooper bay Native American Yupik Alaskan woven lidded basket, traditional grass weave, geometric design. Artist unknown. This basket is woven from wild rye beach grass (taperrnat).  It is decorated with a complex geometric design of green and red dyed grass. It is expertly woven, tightly coiled, symmetrical and well balanced. It is 8” high by 15” in circumference. It is in excellent condition. C. 1950's
