“Mother of God – Angiosoritissa” (Intercessor)– depicts the Holy Mother (Theotokos) in traditinal dark red garments on ocre-gold background, without the Christ Child, as She holds the scroll with a prayer for intercession on behalf of mankind, that all who come before God are accepted. Bazed on Byzantine prototype, this icon emphasizes Virgin Mary as the compassionate advocate for humanity. Painted probably in early 19th c., icon is in good condiiton, with minor losses around the edge.
