This charming box has been painted by a talented artist Lidyaeva Larisa.
In the composition the artist depicts the theme of tea drinking which is traditional for Fedoskino lacquer miniature painting.
The scene shows two young beautiful women, serving up a plateful of appetizing baranki.Girls sit outside and one of them is feeding a dog, a cat nearby is looking around,a cockerel with two hens is near the foot of another girl.
The characters have their own personalities and facial expressions, showing various levels of emotion. The artist uses a palette with realistic brown and blue tones, and infusions of bright paints for emphasis.The samovar is painted over the large piece of mother-of-pearl!
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box sits on a wavy platform. Signed with the name of the artist, village and a title- Tea drinking. This is a hinged box measuring approximately 6" x 4.5" x 1.5".
