This beautiful box was painted by Boris Shavirin.
Each of his boxes is a true work of art, and not many contemporary artists can compete with him in painting technique, sense of color and choice of a theme.
The work is called "In the Autumn Park", and features an elegant lady strolling in the park with her dog. It's so pleasant to enjoy the last sunny days of Indian summer before beginning of dull, cold, and rainy weather. The artist displays his skill in painting innumerable number of tiny decorative elements to reproduce the lace material of the lady's luxuriant dress.
Rich gold line frames the composition. The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer, while the interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box has a hinge to the left from the scene and rests on a flat base. It is signed with the artist's name.
