Product Description

The imagery comes from, "The Tale of the Princess Frog." The arrow landed next to its unintended target. In the quest for a bride, Ivan Tsarevich fired his arrow at random in the hopes to find beauty and love along with his two older brothers. He did not count on adventure. The frog finding has just transformed into anything, but a slippery amphibian. Ivan will realize the true nature of his find soon enough.
The clothing worn by the character is definitely one of the highlights of the piece. A lots of gold can be found here! A large piece of mother-of-pearl is shins through the costume of a lady. Another white piece of mother-of-pearl is shines through the palace behind a Princess. The trees with the gold leaves acting as the background for the character, builds beauty in the palette.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the piece. The sides of the box are imitating the texture of a brown marble. The box has a hinge to the left of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Signed by artist - Boris Shavyrin.
