Product Overview

In Slavic folklore, the Firebird (Russian: жар-пти́ца) is a magical glowing bird from a faraway land, which is both a blessing and a bringer of doom to its captor. The story of the Firebird quest has inspired literary works, including "The Little Humpback Horse" by Pyotr Yershov.

This doll is hand painted by the famous artist Galina Ivanova well known by intricate details that she puts into the dress, kerchief and kokoshnik (Russian traditional head dress). This beautiful matryoshka is richly decorated. Also, a great attention was paid to kerchief decorations – here you can see elegant white roses, Forget-Me-Nots and exquisite flower ornaments.
This is a very nice composition from the classic Russian fairy tale of the Firebird. Beautiful detailed fine art quality five piece nesting doll. Matte lacquer finish. The largest doll is approximately 8" tall. Signed by the artist.
