This very detailed box is a creation of Olga Fedorova from the village of Kholui. The box shows a scene from the popular Russian fairy-tale "The Snowmaiden". This beautiful papier-mache lacquer box is hand painted in egg tempera and gold on Mother of pearl. Miniature painted in the traditional manner on the Mother-of-pearl background.
This is a unique and lovely one-of a kind Snowmaiden. The lid is hinged from the left side of the composition, and the box rests on four round legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and Kholui. Box is approx 6"x3.5"x1 1/4"
