Product Overview
This box has been painted by a talented artist Alexander Kornilov, from the village of Palekh. It features one of the characters , Prince Elisey, from the Russian classic tale "Tale of the Sleeping Princess" written in verse by Alexander Pushkin.
The artist's palette is diverse, but the predominance is given to various shades of green and red tones of tempera paints with brilliant gold paint that makes the composition radiate with a tremendous glow.
Painting is very much detailed and the gold details are amazing! Traditional black Lacquer outside with rich ornate gold borders, and red lacquer inside. The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and Palekh school.
