Product Overview

This charming small box was painted by Larisa Rodionova from the village of Palekh. It is called "Party", and shows rather a strange scene.
The cat isn't going to hunt the mice, and the mice are not afraid of the cat. Red cat and Spirit of the house with mice are having nice party.
The scene is painted in the shades of green, red and brown against the black background typical for all Palekh boxes. Gold paints detail each element of the composition. This builds radiance and texture, both at the same time.
The exterior of the box is richly decorated with lustrous gold ornamentation, and covered with black lacquer. The interior of the piece is traditionally red. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four small legs. The work is signed inside and titled by the artist. Approx. size 2.25"x1.75"x1.75".
