Native American Yupik Woven Small Lidded Basket - Hand Woven Basket

This is a wonderful vintage Hooper bay Native American Yupik Alaskan woven lidded basket. Artist unknown. This very small weave lidded basket is woven from wild rye beach grass (taperrnat).  It is decorated with a complex geometric design of red and purple dyed grass. It is expertly woven, tightly coiled, symmetrical and well balanced. It is 2” high by 7” in circumference. It is in excellent condition. C. 1970's
