In the very old traditions of Russia, Kolyadki was similar to the practice of singing Christmas Hymns - except it was done including the symbols of stars and sun for the upcoming New Year. Children participated in Kolyadki, often dressing up in the costume of their favorite animal. On this gorgeous Father Frost, Master Elena Shiryaeva has depicted one of the oldest Russian traditions which lives to this day. Handcarved with miniature detail from lindedn wood, he stands at approx. 13.5"tall
