Iris by Tikhomirova | Mstera Lacquer Box

This lacquer miniature was created by Natalia Tikhomirova of Mstera. This artist specializes in ornamental and floral compositions while using bright tones with realistic floral colors. In the center of this box is a beautiful butterfly with iris flowers painted against black background.  The flowers are painted in soft tempera paints and detailed with gold paints. This scene is framed with an intricate gold pattern.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene. 3"x3"x1.25".
