WHALEBONE carving or sculpture is a rarity and regional to the Northwest and the Arctic. It is rarely found anywhere else. This fossil whalebone shaman dancer is carved by Ron Ekemo. The shaman face, eagle wings and eagle mask are carved out of fossilized walrus jawbone.

Ron Ekemo was born in Cordova, Alaska 1949. Ekemo attended the Alaska Methodist University and the University of Alaska from 1968 to 1972. In 1972 Ekemo started Ekemo Studios, doing sculpting and carvings in ivory stone and fossil bone. Eventually moved in to Anchorage and in 1990 moved Ekemo Studios to Eagle River Alaska.

Approx. 6"L x 7"W x 28"H. This shaman dancer is an amazing piece of art, it would be an excellent addition to any home.
