Product Description

Yevgeniy Dokuchaev is one of the best Fedoskino portrait painters.
Portraiture the artist specializes in is the most difficult genre in art, and especially in lacquer miniature art. Each talented portrait painter is a good physiologist who knows how to express people's emotions, mood and inner life. He is also skilled and experienced in painting technique as it is a very complicated task to reproduce realistically a visual appearance of a person.
Here the artist has chosen to paint the watch master reading the newspaper. His face reflects his emotions regarding the article he reads. Various instruments for repairing watches and clocks are scattered on the table, and each of them is painstakingly painted with a lot of diminutive details. The glass cover painted to look transparent is a splendid example of the artist's gift for realism. Everything here is so brilliantly painted that this box is worthy of being exhibited in the museum.
The portrait is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the top of the portrait, and rests on a flat bottom. The box is signed with the artist's name. Approx. size 4.5"x3.5"x1.5".
