This sterling silver owl pendant is hand carved from fossilized ivory. The fossilized ivory used in this pendant is from fossilized walrus tusk which the native Yupik gather on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. This centuries-old walrus tusk has lain in the earth for some 500 to 3,000 years where minerals stained it a range of colors from soft caramel to a deep chocolate brown.
