This box has been painted by a talented artist Sergey Kotov, from the village of Palekh. It features one of the characters , Prince Elisey, from the Russian classic tale "Tale of the Sleeping Princess" written in verse by Alexander Pushkin.The artist's palette is diverse, but the predominance is given to various shades of blue and red tones of tempera paints with brilliant gold paint that makes the composition radiate with a tremendous glow.Painting is very much detailed and the gold details are amazing! Traditional black Lacquer outside with rich ornate gold borders, and red lacquer inside. The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene Stands on four legs. Approx. 5"x3.5"x1.5".
