The beautiful papier-mache lacquer box is hand painted in tempera, a Russian artist from the village of Palekh Yevgenii Krasnov. This is a scene from Russian fairy tale - "Ivan Tsarevitch and the Grey Wolf". Painting is very much detailed and the gold details are amazing! Yevgenii has his own unique style of painting and it is very recognizable. The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. Golden ornament frames the composition, while another ornamentation wraps around the sides of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene. Approx. 4.25"x3"x2".
