The beautiful papier-mache lacquer box is hand painted in Oil-paint and Mother-of-pearl by a talented contemporary Russian artist Smirnova.Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt is noted for his paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. The composition is surrounded by a gold line.The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name. Miniature painted in the traditional manner on the Mother-of-pearl background. Box is approx 4"x3"x1.25"
