This festive box called "Snowmaiden" has been painted by a talented artist Bobkova Zoya. The scene is painted in bright oil paints to create a festal mood. Shining pieces of gold metal leaf that can be found in the costume of Snowmaiden and rich golden ornaments are used to underline the beauty of Snowmaiden.
In this composition Snow Maiden is painted on the edge of the winter forest with Grandfather Frost behind her. Snow covered village is painted from right side of the box and Grandfather Frost's castle from the left side.. Snowmaiden has a diadem in her hair.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, and the village of Fedoskino on the box's exterior bottom. Aproox size 5"x4"x 1.5".
