Product Description

Ivory dogsled carved by Mary Seppilu from St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. Some of the materials she is using, raw walrus Ivory and Baleen, are restricted for use by the Federal Governemnt for two subsistence living tribes, The Yupik and Inupiat. The base is an artiface piece of fossil ivory; formerly a sled runner itself, the color on this long ivory piece indicates fossilization.

NOTE* Since Dave Seppilu passed away a few years ago, Mary has almost ceased to carve; she has recently finished this piece for us, which was started by the two of them together.

Size: 26" long.
