This interesting work is a creation of the popular Fedoskino artist, Pavel Govorun. The artist depicted a scene from Lewis Carroll's (1832-1898) classic tale "Alice in Wonderland". Here we can see a recognizable moment of the story when Alice becomes a guest at a mad tea party. She drinks tea with the Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse, and listens to their stories.
The scene demonstrates the unique style of Pavel Govorun. Blue, brown and white tones of oils predominate here. Silver powder shines through Alice's dress. The scene is framed with a scan ornaments.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Dark violet lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and a platform while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene(of the box), and the box rests on a platform. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino.
